Ideation

The idea for this comic came naturally as a way to understand the feelings I had surrounding my grandfather’s death due to lung cancer in October 2019. I experimented with different illustration styles (traditional vs digital, greyscale vs color) and decided on a simplified complimentary color palette (muted blue and yellow).

Rough outlines of each page (text and illustration content and placement) were created for each page. This helped clarify the overall narrative arc and how the two page spread would impact the layout.
